What you need to know.
Most people only buy a new bed or mattress every few years, so it’s hard to know what to look for, and hard to know about the latest trends and technology.
Here at Slumbers, the bed centre in Stanway, Colchester, we have been supplying beds for over 20 years. It’s what we do, and we’re only too happy to pass on our expertise.
Here are five tips which will stop you making a big mistake!
1. Never buy a bed or mattress online.
“But don’t you guys sell beds online?”, you may be asking. Well, we do …if you insist. But we don’t recommend buying that way. You might spend a third of your life in bed. That deserves finding the most comfortable one for you. Come down to Slumbers and have a nice lie-down on a selection of mattresses in the showroom. You’ll be glad to have found the time – every night for years to come.
2. Avoid the ‘big names’.
Do you know why they use expensive actors and actresses on TV adverts for beds and mattresses? It’s because it takes someone very convincing to persuade us that cheap, foreign-made stuff can actually give us a good night’s sleep. And the cost of those adverts just goes on the price of the bed. At Slumbers, you’re paying for the best beds from the best British suppliers.
3. Dodge the Delivery Trap.
Many big stores and online suppliers maximise their profits by only ordering your bed from their factories on the other side of the world after you’ve signed the order. It’s at that point when they reveal that “delivery is currently taking 10 weeks or more”. At Slumbers, we can supply made to order beds very quickly. Choose a bed we have in stock and you could be sleeping in it by the end of the week.
4. Don’t turn your home into a Build-A-Bed Workshop.
We see people reduced to tears by having to put their own beds together from kits. The retailer never warned them that their new bed would arrive in the shape of a bunch of cardboard boxes. And even the DIY enthusiasts who relish that challenge are horrified by having a shrink-wrapped mattress just dumped on their doorstep by a parcel delivery company. Who wants to carry that upstairs? At Slumbers, our trained installers will put the whole thing together for you, in your bedroom, then clean up and take away all of the packaging. All at no charge.
5. Stay clear of suppliers who don’t want to talk to you.
What happens if you’ve got questions after your new bed has arrived? Or if there’s something wrong? Do you really want to spend hours on the phone to a call-centre on the other side of the world? At Slumbers, the shop is open seven days a week, we’re an email or phone call away, and our five-star ratings are thanks to having thousands of happy customers who come back again and again.
